Mandy Sau Yi Chan is originally from Hong Kong and has been teaching in
New York City for over 19 years. She graduated from Dr. Martha Eddy’s
Dynamic Embodiment Training Program. She is a Registered Somatic
Movement therapist and has served the Board of ISMETA since Fall 2020.
She is a founder of Breathing Heart – Integrative Wellness and Fitness and
has her private practice at Union Square, NYC. She presented at the 2017
BMCA conference in San Marcos, TX, 2018 BMCA conference in North
Hampton, MA and 2019 ISMETA/NEDO conference in New York NY.
Before her Somatic Movement education, Mandy is a dancer, dance
educator, certified Holistic Health Counselor and certified teacher in Pilates
and Yoga. She received her B.F.A. in Dance with First Class Honors from
the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2000, she was awarded a
two years scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance
Fund to pursue her study in New York. She received her M.F.A. in Dance
from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2002. Mandy is a ballet instructor at
Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn and has been the company’s principal
dancer since 2003.
