Non-verbal communication accounts for at least 60, if not 90%, of all human transmission of feelings. Observing the rise and fall of anger and other related emotions in oneself and others is a great tool in shifting escalating conflict. Furthermore, proxemics – where we position ourselves in space – can be causal and remediating influences in times of increased conflict whether considering personal self-management, interpersonal strife, homelessness, gun violence, or war, these behavioral tools are always with us.
