Deborah Heifetz: ‘The Needs Matrix’ Throughout the day we will reflect on postural and movement patterns that communicate how we each have habituated our needs in ways that allow for relationship. We ask: How do these movement patterns impact my relationship to self and others? Our movement will be harbingers of what we want to communicate but also what we don’t always know that we are feeling. This leads to coming to grips with how you want to be perceived in different contexts.

Part 1: In her work as a DEP/RSMT Lorella Rapisarda will propose movement explorations to balance the hormonal and nervous systems, through Dynamic Embodiment and Shiatsu principles. This workshops asks: How do we cope with stress and tiredness? We can recuperate some energy through listening to our body sensations, moving with breath and intention in space to balance our nervous and endocrine systems, we can also use some self Shiatsu to support and preserve our energy. We will explore simple movement sequences, improvisations, through individual and group work. It is important to be able to support ourselves, but when we find ourselves in a group we have the chance to be supported by others and we can appreciate how the interactions with others can help regulate ourselves.

Part 2: Embody some of the major glands and learn about their hormones. Discover the nerve plexus near by. Find the spatial pulls that vitalize the region. Play with the interaction of glands above and below within the body to open up the full energy flow. Follow a flow to deepen contact with chakral energies. Engage in hands-on continuing from some of the days workshop ideas: the thyroidal-adrenal-gonadal complex: discover adrenal support, gonadal expression, and thyroidal balancing. We can also bring in the Cerebro-Spinal/CranioSacral rhythms and nerve releasing for calming the Nervous System.
